Event Update: SOS Business Surgery - 'Managing Your Personal Finances' (15-09-11)

Donna-Ray Campbell

Hello, my name is Donna-Ray Campbell and I write the 'Event Update' column on behalf of Stimulus for the Entrepreneurial Report.

SOS Business Surgeries are events that we hold monthly that give an opportunity foe entrepreneurs to learn life skills, share experiences and gain information that will allow the to take practical steps to development. At these events one2one sessions can be booked in advance for a closer and private review of you particular situation.

Our first SOS business  surgery took place last night at ZB Life Towers at the Riverdale Voice & Data Offices which was 'packed to the rafters!' as they saying goes.

Our topic of discussion was Managing Your Personal Finances which is essential when entering the choppy waters of          self-employment as an entrepreneur.

We had our sponsors The Profin Group represented by Mrs Feroza Sharif who told us about several off shore investment opportunities that were available to us as entrepreneurs starting out. Then we had Beauty Nhandara from The Old Mutual Group sharing key information about funeral and life insurance policy options and it was surprising how affordable it is on the entrepreneurial start-up business' pocket.

Our third speaker was Rudo Nyangulu from V.S Nyangulu and associates, legal practitioners, she presented on wills and trust, the importance, the difference and the legal process involved. Finally we had Diana Shirto walking us through the crucial stages of developing a personal financial management plan. She then provided us with personal financial budget templates to take home. This allowed us to start putting into practice all we had learnt.

Our next SOS Business surgery will be on the 29th of September at ZB  Life  Towers from 5.30pm our topic is Managing Your Business Finance. This is another one that is not to be missed see you there!!

The meeting in pictures:

As the facilitator for the event I started by introducing Stimulus to the attendees
Mrs Sharif representing our sponsors The Profin Group gave an informative presentation
on off shore investment opportunities
Diana Shirto walked us through practical steps for planning our personal finances
Rudo talked us through the importance of having a will and a family trust and
that it is more affordable than we would think
Beauty talked us through the Old Mutual options for Life and Funeral insurance
Members of Stimulus and guest alike participated in the discussion and asked
questions that shed more light on each topic
We were indeed 'packed to the rafters' and will be needing large venues for events going forward however we had a very informative and thought provoking evening.
